Hello iTeach/iLearn Educators,

In a continuing effort to provide you with varying opportunities for professional development, OIT is pleased to present you with two brand new online courses Web 2.0 Workshop and Seven Steps to a Flat Classroom written and designed by renowned educator Vicki Davis. Author of the popular Cool Cat Teacher blog, Ms. Davis is a classroom teacher, entrepreneur, edublogger, conference presenter, and freelance writer who has received many awards and media recognition for her class wiki and for her innovative Flat Classroom Project which connects students to others around the globe using Web 2.0 and other technologies.

Below is a description of each course. We are pleased to be able to offer you these terrific classes and look forward to hearing you share your experiences. These courses are available through July for enrollment and participation. There is no compensation from our office for these courses, however, participants will receive 4 hours of professional development credit upon completion of all the requirements

Web 2.0 Workshop
Blogs, wikis, Webcasts, podcasts, RSS feeds, social networks . . . they're all a part of what has come to be known as Web 2.0. Workshop author Vicki Davis is a classroom teacher who has been recognized for her innovative classroom practices using Web 2.0. The Flat Classroom Project, which she coauthored, won ISTE's Award for Best Online Learning project for 2007, an Edublog Award for Best Wiki in education for 2006, and inclusion in the best selling book The World is Flat. Her Cool Cat Teacher Blog received an Edublog finalist award for Best Teacher Blog of 2006.

Seven Steps to a Flat Classroom
In this workshop Vicki Davis, renowned for her innovative use of the Web in the classroom, explains the steps necessary to create a Flat Classroom. The Flat Classroom is the expansion of your classroom beyond the school walls to include global communities and different forms of communication like blogs and wikis.
